Healthy Heart Chakra: for Love, Abundance, and Inner Peace
To experience true love, you must first love yourself. To receive blessings and abundance, you must first believe you are deserving. That which you cannot find within, you will never find without.
These axioms aren’t just words to live by – they’re also metaphysical fact. Before you can receive love in any form from the outside world, you must first be open to receive it, and that reception takes place in your Heart Chakra.
Heart Chakra Function
Your Anahata, or Heart Chakra is located in the center of your chest, right next to your heart. Around the world, the heart is associated with both receiving and expressing love. By association, all acts of true love are associated with this energy center: compassion, mercy, generosity, and nurturing are just a few examples.
When you give love in any form, you share your Heart Chakra energy. When someone else pours their loving energy into you, it is your Heart Chakra which receives and processes it.
If your Heart Chakra is blocked, you will have a difficult time both giving and receiving love from others, the Universe, and yourself. If this Chakra is too open, you may find it difficult to ever have enough or to feel whole and complete unto yourself.
Dysfunction in the Heart Chakra often results in:
- Feelings of loneliness, isolation, or emptiness
- Excessive feelings of guilt or self-loathing
- Lack of fulfilling relationships in one’s life
- Inability to feel love, compassion, and remorse
- Difficulty healing physically or emotionally
- Feeling ‘unlucky’ or as if the world is out to get you
Conversely, if your Heart Chakra is functioning normally, you should enjoy:
- Feelings of wholeness, inner peace, and contentment
- Feelings of joy and self-worth
- Healthy, loving relationships
- Compassion and generosity
- Strong physical and emotional immunity
- Blessings, gifts, and abundance
How To Balance Your Heart Chakra
If your life is lacking in love, peace, or abundance, don’t worry! There are some really some really simple ways to get your Heart Chakra spinning at the right speed!
First on the list are affirmations. While affirmations are a great tool for making changes to all areas of life, they are especially potent when it comes to opening yourself up to love, from yourself and others.
Some examples of great affirmations to use include:
- I love myself.
- My relationships are loving and fulfilling.
- I am blessed beyond measure.
- I body heals itself quickly.
- I am whole unto myself.
Remember to recite your affirmations regularly and out loud. The idea is to embed these positive thought patterns into your daily life, and hearing yourself say wonderful things about yourself often allows them to become reality. You might not feel their effects immediately, but the change will happen!
Second on the list is loving and nurturing yourself on a physical level. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and adequate sleep all play a major role in your physical well-being. By taking care of your physical body, you are telling yourself that you are deserving of love. By allowing yourself time to heal physically, you provide yourself with opportunity to heal from emotional trauma as well.
Finally on the list, and perhaps most important – don’t give more than you have.
Society teaches us that we should be selfless and to some extent that’s true. However, giving your love and attention to a person or situation without receiving that energy back in some form can be downright deadly!
Depleted meta-physical energy will eventually become depleted physical energy. Giving more than you have will drain you on every level, and can even cause severe health problems in the long run. Yes, it is possible to die from a broken heart.
While cardiac arrest might be on the extreme end of the spectrum, people who over-exert themselves trying to help others are often plagued with physical, emotional, and financial problems of all kinds.
Take Care Of Yourself First
You can’t help anyone if you’re sick, depressed, or broke. Well, maybe you can for a while… but the time will come when you reach the point of no return. No matter how much you love someone, you’re no good to them if you’re lying in the fetal position sobbing, or even worse, lying in a hospital bed.
It is critical to strike a balance between taking care of others and taking care of yourself. If you’ve been giving for so long that you don’t even remember how to put yourself first, consider this: there is a good chance you are giving past your limits due to a lack of self-worth.
Perhaps you’re afraid that if you don’t keep giving, people will be angry with you. Maybe you’re afraid that if you fail to meet your obligations, people will judge you harshly. Or, maybe you’re afraid that if you give up on a situation or project, you will suffer some negative financial consequences.
Regardless of your fears, the fact is if you truly loved yourself, you wouldn’t worry about what others though of you. And if you truly believed in yourself, you wouldn’t fear for your future.
Love yourself and others will love you. Respect yourself, and others will respect you. Take care of yourself and the Universe will take care of you. When you are truly open to love and abundance, you will never go without.
